Our Jute Shoppers have been carefully crafted from natural jute and cotton fibers to shop with you for years to come! They also make a lovely statement piece on a hook or hat rack at home.
The fabric is handwoven by fair trade artisans in remote, rural communities of Bangladesh. They dye and prepare the jute, then work from home or a community weaving space on traditional wooden looms to create stunning herringbone and stripe patterns.
Finally, the bags have been sewn and topped with two sturdy wrapped jute handles in a sewing workshop that supports women who have been rescued from prostitution.
Meet the Maker: The Dharma Door
A story woven with every stitch and fiber...
The Dharma Door commissions the incredible skills of female artisans in remote communities of Bangladesh. Ensuring Fair Trade practices, each piece is made by hand, completely unique, and distinctly individual. Through these partnerships, women are able to use their talents to trade their way out of poverty and strengthen the fabric of their communities.
